CLEAN WOOL LIKE WOOL
The technique used by most carpet cleaners will not work. Do not clean with truck-mounted steam.
Here's why:
ACID CLEANING COMPLEMENTS WOOL
THE NATURE OF WOOL
The outer layer of the wool, called the epidermis, is made of overlapping scales that hide and store soil, plus lanolin oils to repel soil and stains. The wool institute recommends annual cleaning.
UNDER-PADDING PREVENTS WEAR
Under-padding prevents sliding, wrinkling, and bunching. Under-padding cushions the impact between shoe and hard surface floor providing more comfort underfoot and prolonging the life of the rug. Rugs should be turned twice a year to even wear.
SUN AND MOTH CARE
Sunlight bleaches colors fast, wool dye is sunlight sensitive. Check under the rug from time to time, this is where moths hide. Walking on the rug, vacuuming and exposure to light and air help prevent moths, a rug in use is rarely in danger from moths. Vacuum front, back and floor underneath, spray a nonstaining insecticide on the floor underneath.
YOUR ORIENTAL RUG IS AN INVESTMENT IN ART
The centerpiece to any room, a dramatic statement. Oriental rugs are hand-knotted, handwoven heirlooms. Oriental rugs age beautifully and can be enjoyed for the rest of your life and passed on for your children to enjoy.
